Unholy Magic Attack...

After releasing four albums (along with numerous split albums and demos) over the last twenty years, what more can a band hope to conjure with their sound? Some become commercial and mainstream, and their music steadily becomes more mundane, as a commodity on a shelf to be consumed or reproduced. Not so for Inquisition: their recently released fifth album is at once uncompromising and refreshing. They remain loyal to their previous sounds and themes, yet still manage to create something new and unlike what they've done before. Nothing more can be said to convey the performance captured on this release; better to leave that to the listener when they play the album. This will probably be on my turntable for the rest of the year.
